For this academic year, the only national university in the country said that the first year applicants will not undergo to the usual UP College Admissions Test (UPCAT). The announcement stated that the decision was made unanimously by the University Councils of all the UP constituent universities due to the health concerns brought by the current pandemic that has been infecting thousands of Filipinos in the country.

Instead of the UPCAT, the highest academic policymaking body of the constituent universities in the UP System had approved a new measure to short-list the first year applicants. According to the statement the applicants will be evaluated according to their high school records and that they will be assessed by academic units in order to qualify for a degree program - if deemed necessary. Hopefuls will be notified for any assesments or other additional requirements during the evaluation period.

Below are the steps in applying to become the first year students of the University of the Philippines for the academic year 2021-2022 as officially released by the university.

Applicants shall accomplish Form 1 (Personal Data Sheet) electronically and upload their photo and electronic signature.

•   High schools shall be requested to log on to the Grades Submission link to accomplish Form 2 (High School Records) on behalf of the applicants. An online survey was sent earlier to high schools using their registered email addresses in the records of the UP Office of Admissions (OAdms).

•   If a high school has not received the email of the UP OAdms, applicants from that school must inform the Office of the school’s current official email address via dataproc.oadms@up.edu.ph to facilitate communications between the UP OAdms and the high school.

While we are in the time of advance technology, UP recognized the possibility that there are applicants that may be experiencing technological limitations, that is why they are currently coodinating with concerned high schools for other alternative modes of applications.

The link for the online submission portal will be made available on the exact day of the start of the application submission which is on January 7, 2021 and will end at February 15, 2021.

For any concerns regarding the online submission of application and to address the spread of misinformation, UP had officially released various way for them to be reached out by the public regarding to any inquiries on the application.
